|"We stock everything from Elvis and the
Beatles to Oasis and Acid Mothers Temple. The only type of music we don't sell
is dance music", declares Greg Duggins, owner of Kaleidoscope Records, one of
the finest music emporiums in North-west England. The shop opened back in 1987
"because record collecting was a hobby, and after years of working for the
council I eventually took the plunge".
It remains a close-knit affair. Greg's wife, Val, runs the shop's web-site and on-line ordering division, long-term friend Les covers the holiday periods. "We started out as a second-hand vinyl shop but expanded rapidly and now stock second-hand CDs and any good quality vinyl and CD re-issue. We also get the odd bit of memorabilia. The rarest item? A pair of Freddy Mercury's trousers. I wish we still had those!".
